Proud of my Town is a Nedbank initiative that aims to make a meaningful contribution towards addressing key issues in towns, neighbourhoods and communities

Ranyaka is the implementation agent and designer of this Nedbank funded programme. This programme is currently being implemented in Paarl and Stellenbosch.

Proud of my Town was launched in 2017 and is more than a fund; it is a movement – a way of thinking about the places where we work, live, learn and play. And this programme is scalable. Nedbank donates a percentage of the banking fees of all clients in Paarl and Stellenbosch towards a Community Fund at no cost to them. The fund will support targeted interventions in the areas that form part of the initiative. It will also encourage our employees and our clients to partner with us on this journey in a very practical way.

One of the first focus areas of the fund is Early Childhood Development. We achieved the following in the 2017/18 financial year in Stellenbosch and Paarl:

  • Supporting 40 ECD centres in Stellenbosch and Paarl around key issues of infrastructure compliance, nutrition, curriculum development and training of ECD principals.

  • 1,017 children benefited from this initiative.

  • 10,000 nutrient-dense breakfast porridge servings to be distributed to ECD centres in Paarl
